e-Learning

We develop e-Learning courses that allow students to learn at their own pace, at a location convenient for them, at the time when they need the training.

It's not always convenient to organize a classroom session or seminar over the web for your students. Sometimes you just can't put all of the people who need training in one place at one time, even if it's their own office for a distance learning session. You might need to keep some supervisors on the floor at all times. You have new employees, employees on vacation or out sick, or unable to meet for training for any number of reasons.

Student using e-Learning module

LTS builds e-Learning materials that solve the problem. Training modules can be downloaded to a student's workstation or made available over an intranet or the internet. Students control the time and place when they access the courses. They can review the session as necessary, because they control the rate at which they work through it.

If you are providing training for your customers, e-Learning courses from LTS allow you to offer quality training while avoiding the on-going expense of instructors and classrooms. New courses and modules are instantly available to your customers when you announce them.

Approach

The typical LTS approach to e-Learning modules starts with a presentation of the task or topic, which includes a simulation of the task. The student is then given the opportunity to interact with the module by answering questions or performing the task itself with simulation. The final step has the student performing the task without guidance to assess whether they have assimilated the topic.

The results of the student's session can be recorded and tracked. This gives you a measure of accountability for using the training modules and accomplishing the tasks in them. These results can be integrated into a learning management system (LMS). The tools we use can output SCORM-compliant tracking data.

Tools

To produce e-Learning courses, LTS uses Captivate (formerly called RoboDemo) from Macromedia.

This tool allows:

  • Using pictures and text for presentation
  • Simulations of screen activity to demonstrate techniques
  • Interaction with the student for practice simulations
  • Interaction with the student for questions
  • Testing with questions or simulations
  • Results tracking
  • Integration with learning management systems
